The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) was established as a program of The American Legion at the 14th National Convention in Portland, Ore., in 1932. The constitution, by-laws, policies, offices and emblem of the Sons of The American Legion were defined at the Spring 1938 National Executive Committee meeting.

The first national convention and election of the first national officers was held in 1972.

This exhibit explores the early history of the Sons of The American Legion and celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first convention.
